Way Off Broadway - New Work

Artistic Director, Randal K. West’s career was significantly altered when he was invited by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth to join them, re-working their musical “Merrily We Roll Along.” That project launched a lifelong commitment to the development of new work. When asked to define the Artistic Direction for WOB, Randy suggested making new work a part of that vision. It is well known that the development of new musicals was and still is very important to Stephen Sondheim, and as the residential company in the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, making a commitment to new musicals seemed a desirable choice for WOB. Since founding the company, WOB has been involved with the production of thirteen new musicals and three more are in development.
